Drake has become the first artist ever to surpass 50 billion combined streams on Spotify. The site, which tweeted the update, notes that Drake is “the first artist in history to hit this milestone.”

Drake acknowledged his streaming achievement on his Instagram Stories. Future, who has regularly collaborated with Drake over the years, congratulated his fellow rapper on Twitter yesterday.

Drake’s next album, Certified Lover Boy, is set to be released this year. Certified Lover Boy was first announced when Drake released the lead single, “Laugh Now, Cry Later” featuring Lil Durk, back in August. A month prior, engineer Noel Cadastre said the LP was 90 per cent complete but “y’all gonna have to wait on that last 10 per cent”.

Certified Lover Boy will be the follow-up to Drake’s 2018 album, Scorpion. Drake has also released the Care Package compilation album in 2019 and the Dark Lane Demo Tapes collection.
