On March 31st, Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed in his hometown, Los Angeles. The music industry and the black community was shook by his death. Nipsey Hussle was always about advancing and educating his people. Most people know Nipsey for having his Marathon Clothing store, but it didn’t end there. Nipsey also launched a co-working space and STEM program. Vector 90 was created to bridge the gap between children in impoverished neighborhoods and the top players in Silicon Valley. Not only did he create jobs for the Black community, but he provided the tools and resources to make our people qualified for prestigious jobs and careers.

On Thursday June 13th, BET announced that Nipsey Hussle will be honored with the humanitarian award at the ceremony that takes place on June 23rd, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. BET Executive Vice President, Connie Orlando, stated “As a prolific artist and leader, NIpsey Hussle was zealous about driving change for the betterment of his community, empowering and employing those in need and being an influential and highly respected leader.”
