Sources say Jay Z declined a halftime performance spot at Super Bowl LII on February 4, 2018. Jay Z is recently coming off major success from his 13th studio album, 4:44. It is being reported the NFL wants the Brooklyn native, Jay Z to share the stage with R&B and POP artist, Justin Timberland. Great match right? Well, Jay isn’t down, but its not because he doesn’t want to share the stage but because of his support to a NFL player. Rumor has it, he saying no to the offer of performing because of his support to Colin Kaepernick and the mistreatment he’s received after his silence protest.
Kaepernick has been black-ball from the NFL since he started his protest of the national anthem. Jay Z and celebrities alike have made it obvious they stand with Kaepernick. Jigga wanted to make it so obvious that as his recent performance at Meadows Fest he dedicated his song ‘The Story of O.J’ to Kaepernick.
However, there’s said to be another reason why Jay Z is saying no to the Super Bowl. If you remember Beyonce’s backlash from her 2016 Superbowl performance, it makes sense why Jay wouldn’t perform. Beyonce’s performance was HOT and powerful but she had a lot of backlash for her Black Panther theme outfits. Viewers thought the performance was disrespectful to police officers and that she was rocking with the Black Lives Matter Organization.

However, whatever the reason is for Jay Z saying no to the offer of preforming at this years Super Bowl, we won’t be seeing him hitting the stage.
