Wendy Williams interviews before the debut of Lifetime's Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B, she speaks on her involvment with the production of the movie & why she felt like the story needed to be told.
Wendy tells Billboard “Lifetime needed to tell this story correctly. Fans won't say, ‘Oh, my God, how could you disgrace her memory?’ And nosy people like me who want to find out things will also be fine.”
“The family is not happy that the movie is being done but we did it so tastefully, I think the family would be proud,” Williams said. “We're not throwing anybody under the bus.”

It turns out fans were HIGHLY UPSET about the production of the film, from the casting to the lack of support from the family & suppoting associates. Taking to social media to voice their opinions on the movie inlcuded not only fans but other non suporters such as producer Timbaland, who took to instagram captioning the photo above with "I hope yall not watching this!!!!!!!!!!!". Throughout the night Timbaland contiued to post memes mockng lifetime & their tragic casting for the movie. He also posted videos voicing his opinion uncluding this:
