Chicago police are asking for the public's help after a baby girl died from injuries she suffered in a shooting. 6 month old Jonylah Watkins was shot five times and transported to Comer Children's Hospital for at least five hours of surgery Monday March 11th. She died earlier this morning (Tuesday March 12th). The girl's father, 25 year-old Jonathan Watkins, also underwent surgery and was being treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital from the shooting. Jonylah was in a minivan with her father Monday at the time of the shooting. Police say the father was changing the baby's diaper in the front seat when a gunman walked up and shot them both. Investigators say they believe the shooting might have been gang related. Police say Jonathan Watkins has gang affiliations and an extensive criminal history, although his family denies that.
